How A Private Buyer Can Still Find A Bargain At A Car Dealer Auction
A car dealer auction can be the perfect place for a private individual to purchase a suitable vehicle, and it can also be the ideal place for commercial companies looking to acquire fleet vehicles. Car dealer auctions have always been traditionally just that, auctions for car dealers only. In previous decades, there were be very few private individuals hovering around these auctions. This was not due to any strict legal enforcedments, but rather more because very few members of the public knew they existed.
Today most vehicle auctions have a higher public profile. Not only have they been featured prominentely in business opportunity magazines, but they are also promoted and advertised more extensively. The press have raved about ridiculous one-off incidents were a vehicle has went for an absurdly low price. While this has been fine in an over hyped press article designed to sell units, the incidences of such events are few and far between.
Apart from this reality check, there are still bargains a plenty to be had at car auction sales. Hardly any vehicles that are on offer at these sales have come from private individuals. This means that the vast majority of them have been put up for auction simply because the organizations who have seized them stand to lose money and time by having to store and maintain them. Therefore some of these vehicles will be top of the range models, and many of them will be nearly new.
Many modern car auctions also run a car auction website. These auctions businesses have seen the success of online auctions like eBay, and have decided to start their own operation. The auction site gives a totally different type of bidding environment, but one which demands no less discipline. If you alone in a room, then there is nothing or no one to control your behavior other than your own discipline. On the other hand, there is not the same frenzied atmosphere that you can get in auction room when people are bidding against each other.
These dealer auto auctions can be perfect places to source cheap vehicles, but you do need to be diligent. The overwhelming majority of vehicles sold at these auctions are used vehicles, so they really need to be inspected extra carefully. If you do not posess the sufficient mechanical knowledge to make an informed judgment as to the state of a vehicle, bring someone along who does. If the vehicle has been put into auction by an experienced dealer, it may well have been dowsed with a cosmetic make over to disguise certain mechanical faults. If you fail to diagnose them it could be a very costly decision. Provided you are able to carry out a thorough vehicle inspection, and show the required discipline, you could pick up a gem at a car dealer auction.
