How You Can Pick Up A Bargain At A Government Seized Car Auction

A government seized car auction can be a good place to pick up a bargain when you are looking for a new vehicle. It can also be a very interesting place to pick up unique and unusual vehicles, as many of these vehicles have been seized after being used in crimes. It is not unusual to find vehicles with greatly enhanced engine power, which were intended to be used as getaway vehicles. Although buying such a vehicle is not a license to misuse it on a public road, it can still give you a sense of novelty, and it can be something to show off to your friends.

A government seized car can often be had at a bargain price because the government has no incentive whatsoever to hold on to such a vehicle. Far from saving the taxpayer money by storing and maintaining vehicles, the government would actually be wasting taxpayers money by such an exercise. The government has every incentive to move these vehicles on as quickly as possible, even if it means they do not realize as high a price as they would have otherwise done.

Government auto auctions are also used to dispose of vehicles which have been seized due to the non payment of taxes. During an economic depression, many more business people find themselves unable to meet tax bills which will have accrued during more prosperous times, and for which they have not set money aside. Vehicles seized for this reason are not limited to commercial vehicles, but include luxury models of private vehicles as well as the common everyday vehicle you find on every street.

A government car auction can give you the opportunity to pick up a luxury vehicle at a low price than you could from a private seller or dealer. If this is your aim, there are several factors you need to bear in mind. Firstly, although this type of auction is mainly intended for the trade, it does attract an ever increasing number of private buyers. This is largely due to the increased publicity given to the auctions by the business opportunity media. This means that there will be occasions, especially in the case of luxury vehicles, where a seriously determined buyer will drive up the price to market levels. If you are looking for a bargain, you will need to be prepared to step away from this type of situation.

Government auctions are also places where you need to display a degree of patience. If you go into the auction overly eager to pick up the first vehicle you see, you are likely to rob yourself of the opportunity to pick up a good deal. By doing some background research into the vehicles on offer, you can come up with exact figures beyond which you will not be prepared to bid. It is absolutely essential that you stick to these figures and do not get tempted to make one more bid just in case. Apply discipline, and you can do well at a government seized car auction.
